Agreement of Cooperation with Asian Concrete Federation

Dr. Jenn-Chuan Chern, chair of Executive Committee, signed the Agreement of Cooperation between ACECC and ACF (Asian Concrete Federation) with Dr. Taketo Uomoto, ACF President, at 10th ECM on 3 December 2004.
The Asian Concrete Federation (ACF)was founded in mid Novermber 2004 at Bangkok, Thailand. This followed a ten-year hardworking of Asian Modal Code by concrete families.
Dr. Chern expressed, since one of the operational tasks that PC was dealing with is Asian Design Code. ACF is composed of 14 members in Asia Pacific region. What they were doing for ISO Code TC-71 was heavily related to ACECC. Therefore it was good for ACECC to sign MOU with ACF to link technical activities of both organizations together. By doing so, we can integrate our efforts together and making ACECC PC working more effectively and smoothly. Therefore the motion was passed in the first ACF Board Meeting. Dr. Taketo Uomoto ACF President was authorized to sign MOU with ACECC.
Both ACECC and ACF agreed to enter into this Agreement to facilitate coordination and enhancement of the efforts and resources of both organizations for cooperation regarding concrete and concrete engineering so as to better serve the public and the engineering professions of their organizations. This Agreement shall become valid upon approval by the governing bodies of both organizations for duration of three (3) years.
The scope of cooperation considered under this Memorandum may include,
1. Exchanging information in general, such as information relevant to technical publications, periodicals, journals, technical events or activities to be undertaken by each organization, which are of interest to each other.
2. Encouraging visits or present of specialists, lecturers, and guests at technical conferences, symposia, workshops and/or seminars to be sponsored by the other organization.
3. Permitting, case-by-case, to reprint mutually articles, papers, and information published, provided that appropriate measures are properly taken for protection of copyrights, and if required, relevant permission should be obtained from authors in advance.
